Shampoo Surprise!

Tonight, I put my 5 yr old in the tub and left him to play and "get clean." In trying to teach him more responsibility with getting clean at bathtime on his own, I neglected to be sure he had his shampoo and conditioner right there for him to use. I was getting his clothes out of the drawer in the room next to his bathroom when I heard that fuzzy, "soap in the hair" sound. I came into the bathroom and found he was using the hand/antibacterial soap I'd left on the edge of the tub...in his hair! LOL, and it occured to me, "Hmmm, I need to hook him up with his own foaming shampoo. My sweet big boy.... So, I'm going to give you a 2 for 1 buffet here by sharing how to save yourself some money by refilling your own Dial foaming handsoap bottles yourself. I decided to post this because a month or so ago, I posted something on my facebook about refilling my foaming handsoap, and my friend said she bought (that DAY) on amazon, 2 bottles of this stuff for $9. She couldn't believe that it actually works, so I thought, sheesh, peeps need to be saving some money! So here you go: Ingredients: 1 used & cleaned foaming handsoap bottle 1 big bottle of anti-bacterial handsoap/shampoo, (depending on the soap...I buy the big bottle of store brand anti-bacterial soap because it has the same ingredients, but is way cheaper. I pay $3 or so for it and it lasts me for MONTHS! Water Take your used but clean foaming handsoap bottle, squeeze either your shampoo (for hair, of course), or the anti-bacterial handsoap and fill the bottle a little less than 2/3 of the way. Then fill the rest of the bottle with water. *ding* And you're finished! Yes, I feel like I wasted like 5 min of your life with writing this much, because it was THAT easy. Now, go on out there and BE CHEAP! haha

Why Cheaply Does It?

I decided to start this blog because I am all of the time making things at home, either because I don't like the hazardous materials and chemicals that are in the products I find at the store, or I just make it myself for one of the smartest reasons on the planet: because it's cheaper. I had someone recently tell me "Oh, you are so talented, being able to make your own soap, making your own deodorant, ect," my response was, "No, I'm not actually talented, but I'm trying to save money and take care of my family, so...I make it myself." You can do so too. My desire is to educate people on how to do things themselves, and give you the ability to make this stuff for yourself, so that you can do the same as I try to do. Mostly, people are either too scared, too lazy, or too busy to do things for themselves. But, perhaps we could start a new trend. "Homemade is back." It doesn't have to be expensive.
